Red Devils boss reportedly furious midfielder opted to throw a party instead of following example of other players by returning to pre-season training
PAUL Pogba and Jose Mourinho’s relationship has taken another hit with the Manchester United manager reportedly annoyed at his star man’s decision to throw a party in Los Angeles.
France international Pogba has been enjoying his downtime in the wake of clinching the World Cup with his country in Russia this summer.
That has included hanging out with friends and family stateside for the last few weeks as well as French teammates and fellow Red Devils man Marouane Fellaini.
But while other United players such as Romelu Lukaku have followed their manager’s request to return to training before the end of their post-World Cup holidays, Pogba has shown he is very much is own man.
According to reports in Italian newspaper Tuttosport, the 25-year-old invited family and close pals to the party in LA before then moving on to the more tranquil setting of French Polynesia.
That decision is another blow to a relationship between player and manager which has become increasingly strained in recent weeks.
Mourinho brought the midfielder back to Old Trafford for £89 million in August 2016 but the former Juventus man has struggled to live up to the Special One’s high expectations for his player.
He has also failed to replicate his Serie A form and has made it clear he would not mind a return to Turin.
Barcelona could also be another destination for the unhappy Frenchman however with the Spanish giants said to be interested in the swoop for him.
Manchester United open their Premier League campaign at home to Leicester City on August 10.
