Kevin Rimane has been at PSG for eight years and made just one first-team appearance

Kevin Rimane is no longer a young man, in the wider context of football.

The centre-back is entering the peak of his football career, having turned 27 in February.

But, were Rimane to walk around the Parc des Princes, the 47,000-capacity stadium he calls home, the 27-year-old would likely go unnoticed.

Say cheese

Rimane’s career path couldn’t be more different to Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and his fellow PSG team-mates.

He’s in his second spell at PSG, re-joining the club after three years in Ligue 2 with Boulogne, where he was a team-mate of N’Golo Kante.

In total he’s racked up eight years at PSG, starting back in 2008 when Stephane Sessegnon was the big summer signing and a 36-year-old Claude Makelele was the main man.

Care to Eden a guess at how many appearances Rimane has made in his time at PSG?

One. One solitary official appearance for PSG’s first-team is all Rimane has to show for eight years at the club, as well as 18 caps for French Guiana.

Rimane played the full 90 minutes of PSG’s 4-0 Trophee des Champions final win against Monaco, partnering Thiago Silva in defence.

Ahead of the new league campaign, Rimane’s first-team prospects weren’t looking great.

The £33million summer signing of fellow defender Thilo Kehrer pushed him further down an already stacked pecking order.

But don’t write the big man off just yet.

Rimane made the bench for PSG’s last two Ligue 1 fixtures, a 3-0 win away at Nice and the 5-0 mauling of Lyon.

Clearly he’s a good luck charm.

If only there was a Premier League club in desperate need of both defenders and some good luck. Nope, can’t think of a single one.
