The youngster has been an absolute nightmare to defend against in the opening 20 minutes of the match
It took them a couple of weeks, but France have officially arrived at the 2018 World Cup.
Les Bleus have been a bit off-colour in Russia so far, failing to really reach the heights we all know their capable of with their talented squad.
Didier Deschamps’ side saw off Iceland, Peru and Denmark in their relatively straight-forward group, but didn’t exactly blow their opponents away despite boasting one of the finest squads at the World Cup.
Still, they’ve been pretty decent so far in today’s round of 16 clash against Argentina.
And one man – well, boy really – has been particularly eye-catching in the shape of 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe.
This kid’s alright, isn’t he?
On the 11th minute, the PSG forward charged forward after picking up the loose ball, surged into Argentina’s half and couldn’t be stopped, leaving defenders in his wake before Man United bruiser Marcos Rojo desperately cut him down.
It was a stone-wall penalty, with the referee not even needing to consult his VAR.
And even as Antoine Griezmann stepped up to convert the spot-kick, everyone was still in awe at Mbappe’s power and speed.
In fact, a lot of folks of Twitter were quick to compare him to the great Brazilian Ronaldo, or Michael Own and his incredible run against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup.
It’s funny that, because Owen’s goal was exactly 20 years ago today.
